I love the word Mompreneur. A couple of years ago, I got into a heated argument with another blogger about how silly the word Mompreneur was and that moms are really doing themselves a disservice by labeling themselves as moms. I pointed out that while being an entrepreneur has so many challenges in itself (whether you are single, a college student, married, family, retired – it’s hard no matter WHO you are!), I love encouraging the “Mompreneur” to create the life that she may believe is unattainable. To me Mompreneur is a woman who goes and gets what she wants, not only for her family, but for her own set of goals.
I am super excited to announce the launch of my latest venture, The Mompreneur Effect. I’ve been a blogger for the past 7 years, and have been working with other bloggers for the past 3 years. I’ve found that many of the bloggers I work with, we end up transitioning into full blown businesses outside of their original idea of making money with their blogs. I also found that many of the people that I would consult with and work with, where mothers trying to create an income stream that allowed them to make their own schedules and leave them available to cater to their childrens needs as well.
Whenever I work with mothers, the strings on my heart are pulled a little bit tighter, as I sympathize for with their struggle and their goals. Being a mom to four children myself, I know the struggles, the guilt, and the triumphs that come when working for yourself and starting a career on your own terms.
I wanted to create a place where I could share my expertise, the expertise and experience of others, and create a space where mothers could visit to learn more about the ins and outs of starting a business and managing this lifestyle.
I’m also learning along with everyone I work with. I don’t have all the answers, and I am a complete “learn on the job” type person. That’s another reason why I was excited to create The Mompreneur Effect, to have another avenue to learn from each other!
In addition to my consulting that I do, I also plan on hosting several G+ Hangouts a month where we can chat, have Q&A sessions, and network about what’s going on in your life as a mompreneur.
The goal of The Mompreneur Effect is to reach out to women and provide a resource to mothers who need help and tips to create the lifetsyle they need to thrive!
